Financial Incentives for Integrated Design and High Efficiency Equipment
Building or Construction Incentives
During the design process we work with the building owner and design team to determine appropriate custom incentives for high efficiency equipment upgrades based on the following criteria:
- incremental cost of the high efficiency equipment compared to standard equipment (incentive often covers 50% of incremental cost);
- estimated potential energy savings of proposed equipment;
- estimated simple payback of proposed upgrade;
- integration of efficient upgrade with other opportunities in the building design or existing facility.
Design Incentives
Design incentives are available to help cover a portion of the added cost that sometimes results when utilizing an integrated design approach to achieve an optimized building design. Incentive amounts depend on the project and are determined at the beginning of the design process. They are often used to help with costs for added project meetings, advanced lighting design, integrated heating, ventilation and cooling system sizing and system selection, and whole- building energy simulation modeling.
