The availability of energy-related funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act has created new opportunities for Vermont communities and other governmental agencies to implement cost-effective and practical energy efficiency and renewable energy projects and initiatives.

As the state's electrical energy efficiency utility, Efficiency Vermont can support Vermont municipalities and other governmental agencies that wish to take advantage of this opportunity.

Resources

• The Vermont Economic Stimulus and Recovery Portal, presented by the Vermont Office of Economic Stimulus and Recovery, provides information on funding available to Vermont.
• Much of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding slated for energy efficiency projects will be allocated to Vermont either directly to entities or to the State for distribution to entities. Funds allocated to the State of Vermont will be managed and distributed by the Clean Energy Development Fund (CEDF).
• At the national level, background and additional information about the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 is available at Recovery.gov.
• Information about federal tax credits for energy efficiency is available from ENERGY STAR®.

       ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND CONSERVATION BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM (EECBG):

• In addition to the Request for Proposal (RFP), Initial Application Form, Comprehensive Application Cover Page, and Budget Worksheet, the Vermont Public Service Board has released a list of Frequently Asked Questions for the EECBG RFP on their Clean Energy Development Fund page.
• K-12 SCHOOLS: The Vermont Superintendents Association's School Energy Management Program has posted valuable information for K-12 scohols on the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants, including a Powerpoint from the grant workshop that was held on November 20, as well as a sample application form and a link to the Public Service Department RFP for the ARRA grant program.
• Initial Applications are due December 8, 2009. Comprehensive Applications are due February 23, 2010.
